Refresh safety knowledge for surface coal mine work through the CTS online refresher pathway. Learning covers site procedures, hazards, incidents, personal and operational safety, wellbeing and PPE.
Who is this course for?
For experienced surface coal mine workers seeking refresher training. Contact CTS to discuss how the refresher relates to your role and prior training.
Delivery and duration
Fully online, self-paced refresher. Duration: up to 2 days. Expected study: up to 8 hours, depending on prior knowledge and experience.

- Accessing and applying site safety procedures
- Following WHS and mine safety legislation
- Applying personal and operational safety measures
- Identifying, reporting, and responding to hazards and incidents
- Maintaining personal wellbeing in mining environments
- Correct use of PPE and site-specific safety protocols
Entry requirements
CTS requires learners to be at least 18 years old, have prior surface coal mine experience, and have basic computer skills and internet access. Contact CTS to discuss the refresher requirements.
Assessment
Assessment is entirely online and includes interactive modules, scenarios, knowledge questions, self-assessment/reflection and video/image evidence where applicable. Assessment is competency-based and relates to industry and legislative requirements.

Equipment, PPE and practical access
A computer or laptop with internet access; Ability to upload assessment evidence (if required)
Personal protective equipment (PPE) for any practical demonstrations, including
Long-sleeved shirt; Long pants; Steel-capped or closed-toe safety boots

Recognition of Prior Learning
RPL is not applicable to this skill set.
