Course overview
Develop workplace communication skills through in-house, face-to-face training at your workplace or a nominated training location. The current course is contextualised to site procedures, communication systems and operational requirements.
Who is this course for?
For workers in civil construction, coal mining, metalliferous mining, drilling/exploration, extractive industries, infrastructure and resource operations. This course also suits workers moving towards supervisory or team-leading roles.
Delivery and duration
Trainer-led, in-house, face-to-face delivery at the workplace or a nominated training location, contextualised to site communication systems and procedures. Duration: up to 1 day. Study: typically 4–6 hours, depending on learner experience.

Entry requirements
No formal prerequisites are listed. CTS requires learners to be aged 17–75, have sufficient English for communication tasks, and be physically able to participate in practical activities.
Assessment
Assessment takes place on-site or through simulated workplace activities: practical demonstrations, observation of communication tasks, written/verbal questions, workplace forms/reports and scenario-based activities. Assessment is competency-based and relates to industry and site requirements.

Long-sleeved shirt; Long pants; Steel-capped or closed-toe safety boots
Fees and payment
$350 per participant. CTS also offers employer group pricing. Refer to the Fees and Refunds Policy.
Recognition of Prior Learning
RPL may be available to experienced workers who provide sufficient evidence of competence. Assessment follows CTS policies and national standards.
