Course overview
Develop skills to treat and dispose of rejects and tailings in coal mining, metalliferous mining and extractive operations. Activities include monitoring and adjusting water levels, additives and clarifying agents.
Who is this course for?
For people working or seeking operational work in civil infrastructure, coal mining, construction, drilling, extractive industries and metalliferous mining.
Delivery and duration
Face-to-face classroom delivery with pre-course learning. Duration: up to 5 days. Expected study: up to 36 hours, depending on prior knowledge, skills and experience.

Entry requirements
No formal prerequisites are listed. CTS requires learners to be aged 17–75 and currently employed in a coal-sector operational role that provides access to the relevant training and skills.
Assessment
Assessment uses workplace observation or role-play/simulation, with questioning that may include self-assessment, verbal responses, written questionnaires, activity modules or interviews.

Computer/laptop with relevant software such as, but not limited to, the following
internet access preferably through Google Chrome; MS Word and PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat Reader; Personal protective equipment; Long sleeved shirt; Long pants; Steel capped or closed toe safety boots
