Develop practical skills to operate a wheel loader and move materials, from planning and preparation through to housekeeping.
For people working or seeking operational work in civil infrastructure, coal mining, construction, drilling, extractive industries and metalliferous mining.
Face-to-face classroom delivery with pre-course learning. Duration: 7-8 days. Expected study: up to 47 hours, depending on prior knowledge, skills and experience.

No formal prerequisites are listed. CTS requires employment in a role that provides access to the training and practical exposure described by this unit.
Assessment uses workplace observation or role-play/simulation, with questioning that may include self-assessment, verbal responses, written questionnaires, activity modules or interviews.

Learner Guide; Assessment Workbook; Handouts; Additional course readings and resources recommended by trainers.
Industry and reference sources, which may include
legislative, organisation and site requirements and procedures; manufacturer’s guidelines and specifications; Australian standards; codes of practice; management plans; WHS policy; safe working procedures (or equivalent); records and reports; One (1) wheel loader; materials to be shifted
personal protective equipment, which may include
hardhat; gloves; dust mask; eye and hearing protection; general protective and reflective clothing
Computer/laptop with relevant software such as, but not limited to, the following
internet access preferably through Google Chrome; MS Word and PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat Reader; Personal protective equipment; Long sleeved shirt; Long pants; Steel capped or closed toe safety boots
Course fee: $350. Refer to the Fees and Refunds Policy.
RPL is not applicable to this unit.

Learning covers preparing for wheel loader operations, operating the loader to complete work activities and carrying out housekeeping activities.
