Course overview
Develop skills to prepare for rail dispatch operations and load and dispatch coal in an operational coal-sector work environment.
Who is this course for?
For people working or seeking operational work in civil infrastructure, coal mining, construction, drilling, extractive industries and metalliferous mining.
Delivery and duration
Face-to-face classroom delivery with pre-course learning. Duration: 6-7 days. Expected study: up to 46 hours, depending on prior knowledge, skills and experience.

Entry requirements
No formal prerequisites are listed. CTS requires learners to be aged 17–75 and currently employed in a coal-sector operational role that provides access to the relevant training and skills.
Assessment
Assessment uses workplace observation or role-play/simulation, with questioning that may include self-assessment, verbal responses, written questionnaires, activity modules or interviews.

Industry and reference resources, which may include
legislative, organisational and site requirements, policies and procedures; manufacturer’s guidelines and specifications; Australian standards; management plans; WHS policy; code of practice; safe working procedures (or equivalent); ticketing; report sheets; consignment notes; All other resources excluding Rail Dispatch equipment required on site.
Equipment, PPE and practical access
Computer/laptop with relevant software such as, but not limited to, the following
internet access preferably through Google Chrome; MS Word and PowerPoint; Adobe Acrobat Reader
Personal protective equipment (PPE)
Long sleeved shirts; Long pants; Steel capped or closed toe safety boots

Recognition of Prior Learning
RPL is not applicable to this unit.
