Course overview
Work towards the RII30420 Certificate III in Resource Processing. Develop operational skills for resource processing, including risk management and carrying out work in line with workplace health and safety procedures. The program combines classroom and workplace learning.
Who is this course for?
For people seeking production operator roles, work in metalliferous processing or coal preparation/treatment plants, or roles involving a broad range of skilled applications in varied work contexts.
Delivery and duration
Face-to-face classroom and workplace delivery. Duration: up to 48 weeks, excluding holidays, over six terms. Expected study: up to 1,236 hours, depending on prior knowledge, skills and experience.

Entry requirements
No formal prerequisites are listed. CTS prefers learners to be 18 or older, live or work in Queensland, have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent, have basic computer skills and have sound language and literacy skills.
Applicants without an Australian Certificate III or higher are required to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment. Learners who do not meet the LLN requirements may still enrol where the trainer endorses enrolment and additional support strategies are in place.
Assessment
Assessment combines workplace observation or role-play/simulation; questioning through self-assessment, verbal answers, written questionnaires, modules or interviews; and structured activities such as projects, case studies, presentations, role-play, demonstrations and progressive tasks.

Fees and payment
Total course fee: $4,000. Payment arrangements: $1,500 upfront and a $2,500 remaining balance paid through monthly instalments of $227.27 for the remainder of training. Refer to the Fees and Refunds Policy.
Recognition of Prior Learning
CTS has an RPL process described in its Recognition of Prior Learning Policy. Information is provided through face-to-face enrolment discussions, the Student Handbook and the CTS website. Applicants are encouraged to apply before delivery of the units begins, so that they do not miss training opportunities if the RPL application is unsuccessful.
